B.K.'s is cooking at new University location

FORT WORTH - B.K.'s Creative Catering has renovated and relocated into a former paint store building that had been vacant for. eight years at 275 University Drive.

The investment is about... for the real estate, full interior remodeling, new equipment and other improvements for B.K.'s new Cultural District Banquet Centre the former Standard Paint Co. store, next door to Luby's Cafeteria, said S. M. McCollum, co-owner.

Co-owner B. K. McCollum, B.K.'s founder and manager, said the 16,000-square-foot facility offers three large banquet rooms and a smaller dining room for catered events serving up to 736 people.

B. K.  McCollum and other Fort Worth caterers have said there is a shortage of facilities at which to hold catered events.

Her husband said the renovation began with gutting the building's interior and installing new kitchen utilities. The Kimbell, Carter and Modern banquet rooms and the smaller O'Keeffe Room are expected to be ready for catered events by Feb. 24, he said.

B.K.'s, operating since 1984, has closed its 6-year-old 5132 Camp Bowie Blvd. location and has opened the new kitchen and begun retail gourmet foods-to-go sales. Its off-premise catering services continued during the transition.
